GeekyCon is a fan convention rooted in the community that has arisen from Harry Potter devotees. It blends the nerdy fun of a Comic-Con with the community and excitement of South by Southwest. We’re all about creating real-world connections between stories, those who create them, and those who love them.
Everything! In the past, we’ve had programming ranging from discussions about similarities between Buffy and Harry Potter, to Disney sing-alongs with actors from Glee. We host performances, panel discussions, roundtables, and more with our Special Guests. In the evenings, we continue the party with concerts and the Esther Earl Rocking Charity Ball!
GeekyCon is returning to Orlando, FL, in 2016. The convention will be held at the Orange County Convention Center from July 29–31.
There are no age restrictions for attendees, but some of our programming may not be suitable for younger children. Just like Harry Potter had to be 11-years-old to attend Hogwarts, our recommended minimum age is 11.
Attendees under the age of 18 attending GeekyCon without a registered parent or legal guardian must bring a signed and notarized permission form when they check in. You will be able to download the permissions slip once you have registered for GeekyCon.
Attendees under 18 attending the convention with a parent or guardian may forgo the permission form, provided that they check in together.
Please note that GeekyCon does not offer chaperone tickets. Parents or guardians who wish to attend programming with their children must purchase their own registrations. Children under five may attend for free with a parent or guardian.
That’s up to you! You can see a summary of the ticket types on our Tickets page.
You just need a print-out of your confirmation email and a government or school-issued photo ID. A copy of a birth certificate can be used in place of a photo ID for attendees under the age of 18. Please note that tickets are non-transferable, so the name on your badge must match the name on your photo ID.
Attendees under the age of 18 attending without a parent or legal guardian must bring a signed permission form which can be downloaded here.
The final programming schedule will be released several weeks prior to the conference. In the meantime, you can see programming guides from previous conferences on our Programming page to get an idea of what to expect. If you are interested in becoming a presenter, please keep an eye out for our Call for Programming.
Ah, so you’ve noticed that there’s a Harry Potter theme park in the same city as GeekyCon, have you? We are working closely with Universal Studios Florida to create an event for our attendees. This event will not be included with your registration and must be purchased separately through GeekyCon. More details soon!
Registration for GeekyCon 2016 is not yet open. Will will announce via our social media channels the time and date when you can buy your tickets. Sign up to be notified via email here.
During the registration process, you will be prompted to pay. You must pay in full using a Discover, American Express, Visa, or MasterCard credit card. Unfortunately, we cannot accept cash, personal checks, or PayPal.
Payment failures are most often caused by problems with the Address Verification System. Please confirm that you have entered your billing address exactly as it appears on your credit card statement. If you have double checked your address and you are still unable to pay, please contact Tixr support at 1-888-611-8497 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
You can change or modify your registration at any point prior to July 25, but please note that the last day to request a refund for the cost of your registration is May 31. On the first page of our registration process, you will be able to choose the number of tickets (of any type) that you would like to purchase. The primary registrant will receive all confirmation emails and be listed as the name on all tickets. However, they are individually captured in our system. Please be sure to print ALL tickets, as each attendee will have an individual QR code which will be scanned to grant access to the event.
You may receive a full refund prior to May 31, 2016 by canceling your registration. After May 31, no refunds will be issued. Please note that it can take two to three weeks for your money to be redeposited into your account after cancellation.

Yes, we strive to make the magic of the conference accessible to all attendees. There will be wheelchair accommodations and preferred seating at all MainStage events. If you need of individualized assistance, you may request a medical aide badge for a family member or friend by emailing email@example.com. Medical aide badges offer attendance to conference programming while in the service of an individual with a disability. Please note that some programming, like concerts and the Esther Earl Rocking Charity Ball, may involve flashing lights or smoke. If you have any further questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
